24 Hour Relay Challenge – May 21, 22, 2016

Thanks to all those who braved the entire relay. Your dedication was duly noted. We are considering this year’s relay a success in spite of the rain. The success is in the money raised that funds programs in the Abington community. It supports the DARE program, needy families, scholarships, child safety seat installations, and supports our volunteers at the many events they attend.

Before the relay started we honored the chief for his vision in starting C.A.P.T. and other programs in the township. We also honored retired Officer Bob Allmond who was the founder of the relay. Bob saw the program advertised at a convention he attended and thought what a great idea for Abington. And the rest as they say is history.

Special thanks go out to those who visited us that day bringing food. BB&T showed up with pretzels, Rita’s with their water ice, and Moe’s with their chips and salsa.

Please go to our Facebook page (Citizens And Police Together) to see pictures that will prove it didn’t rain the entire time.

We cannot say enough about our volunteers. Many hours go into providing three meals and entertainment for over 600 people. This year we received many compliments on the DJ, Fausto Rey.

I’ve checked with channel 6 and there is no rain in the forecast for next year’s 23rd annual 24 Hour Relay Challenge. See you there.
